Trial Period- Online-only Journal

Trial Period- Online-only Journal

Dear ITEA Member,

The ITEA Journal is conducting a trial period of online-only distribution of the ITEA Journal of Test and Evaluation. The trial was approved by the Board of Directors for September and December 2020.

The ITEA Publications Committee is working with our publisher and designer to bring a new and improved e-version of the journal to the membership. During this period, we will investigate and survey ITEA membership for plausibility of making this online version an acceptable way of receiving the Journal going forward.

While motivated by the financial challenges imposed by Covid-19, I see great benefit in moving to an online-only journal.  An e-version of the Journal will provide a contemporary digital format that will enhance the reader’s experience by providing links to further reading. In addition, the e-version will support the authors who contribute to the Journal by providing digital copies for them to share in their networks, which we hope they will do as it will also broaden awareness of ITEA.  As we broaden our capabilities, our advertisers will experience unique capabilities that will enable a better showcase for their products and services.  An e-version offers our members immediate access to the information and will drive them to website for more ITEA engagement.

In short, offering this current and ultimately improved e-version will:

  • Broaden our readership
  • Provide an inexpensive delivery method
  • Target audiences with specific articles
  • Provide a positive environmental impact

I would like your input on where we go in the future! Please take a moment to answer a few questions in the survey so that we can best understand the thoughts of our membership. Survey link

You can also access the current issue via the ITEA website at https://itea.org/the-itea-journal/journal-archives/. Our findings from this trial period and survey will be presented to the Board in late January for discussion and decision prior to the March 2021 issue being published.

Sincerely,

Laura Freeman, Editor
ITEA Publications Committee Chair
