2025: Year in Review

Over the past year, the International Test and Evaluation Association navigated a dynamic and at times challenging environment—shaped by revised government travel policy, workforce reductions among key partners, event modifications and cancellations, and a 43-day federal government shutdown. Through it all, the resilience, creativity, and dedication of ITEA’s Board leadership, volunteers, and members ensured steady progress and kept our mission moving forward.

With clear guidance from the Board and enthusiastic engagement from our membership, ITEA delivered five impactful initiatives designed to better connect, support, and serve our community. Highlights included the launch of the well-received 20×20 Webinar Series, the introduction of collaborative Forum-style technical events, and expanded international engagement through a successful workshop hosted in the United Kingdom by our Western European Chapter.

We also strengthened governance and long-term member value with the creation of a new Senior Advisory Council (SAC). Bringing together seasoned leaders and subject-matter experts, the Council provides strategic insight and mentorship to the Board and emerging leaders across the membership. This past year the SAC was able to create a new partnership with the Digital Twin Consortium and strengthen our partnerships with DEPS and INCOSE. Looking ahead to 2026, the Council is focused on driving membership growth through additional community partnerships, engagement with new and diverse companies, and outreach to interested universities.

ITEA continued to champion inclusivity and professional development by introducing new membership grades that better reflect career stages, experience, and contributions across the test and evaluation community. Scholarly excellence advanced as well, with major enhancements to The ITEA Journal, including DOI implementation and indexing in Scopus. At the same time, a refreshed CTEP certification program supported the growth and success of both current and future T&E professionals.

Behind the scenes, the management team strengthened the Association’s foundation through disciplined financial stewardship, strong governance oversight, and sustained investment in scholarships and emerging professionals. The development of a new Operations Handbook further supports continuity, consistency, and long-term sustainability. A complete review and update to the Bylaws ensures ITEA is legally compliant and governable, reflecting how we operate today.

Together, these efforts position ITEA to enter 2026 energized, well-prepared, and poised for sustainable growth, expanded global collaboration, and increased value for our members.

On behalf of the management team, we extend our sincere thanks to our Board, committee leaders, and volunteers for their leadership, engagement, and unwavering commitment to advancing the art and science of test and evaluation. We are grateful for the trust you place in us and look forward to continuing this work—strengthening our community and our profession, together.

Earning continuing credits for your professional growth.

Did you know that ITEA provides educational courses that align with the four domains of the T&E Certification program to groups in government and industry? We have contracts with the Workforce Development Office at a Navy command and the NextGen FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center for our T&E Fundamentals course and Design of Experiments for T&E. We make it easy and affordable to bring T&E education to you. To learn more, contact us at education@itea.org.

Are you Certified in T&E?

Where else can your employees test their knowledge?

It is usually beneficial to seek out certification within your industry; and for those in Test and Evaluation, it’s no different. For instance, government employees can become certified through programs offered by the Defense Acquisition University, but did you know that for over 10 years, ITEA has been administering, managing, and awarding the Certified Test and Evaluation Professional (CTEP) credentials to individuals in both the government and contractors/ businesses.

We are a  trusted non-profit education association with a Board of Examiners that developed the questions necessary to test individuals to enter or advance in the field of test and evaluation. To learn more about the 4 Domains of the program including T&E Planning; T&E Design; T&E Execution; and Test Data Analysis, Evaluation and Reporting visit our website or contact us at education@itea.org.
